ABA Services

Empowering Growth, One Step at a Time.

At Positive Steps to Independence, we are dedicated to helping individuals with autism and developmental differences reach their full potential through compassionate, evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services.

Every person deserves a personalized, respectful, and collaborative approach to care. That’s why we partner closely with families to develop individualized programs that build meaningful skills, reduce challenging behaviors, and promote long-term independence - at home, at school, and in the community.

Whether you are just starting your journey or looking for additional support, our experienced team of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), Associate Behavior Analysts, and Behavior Management Assistants are here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

  • 1:1 ABA Therapy

Designed to support your child’s unique needs and goals through evidence-based, compassionate care. Led by a trained Behavior Technician and overseen by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), each session focuses on building meaningful skills. For siblings, 1:2 services are also available.

  • Parent Training

We believe parents are essential partners in their child’s success. Our parent training focuses on practical skills like behavior management, communication support, daily routines, and promoting independence at home and in the community. Sessions are tailored to your family’s needs and include hands-on coaching, feedback, and collaborative problem-solving.

  • IEP Advocacy & Support

Navigating the special education system can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. Our IEP advocacy services are here to help families understand their rights, prepare for meetings, and ensure that their child’s educational needs are accurately identified and supported.

  • Social Skills Transition

As clients make progress in their 1:1 ABA therapy, they may be ready to build on those gains by practicing skills in a more social, peer-based environment. Our social skills programs are designed to support this transition by helping individuals apply what they’ve learned - like communication, turn-taking, emotional regulation, and problem-solving, all in real-life group settings.

  • Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)

A Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) is a personalized roadmap designed to reduce challenging behaviors and teach positive, functional alternatives. Developed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) following a thorough assessment, each plan is tailored to the individual’s unique needs, strengths, and environment, with a strong focus on safety, skill development, and quality of life. We collaborate closely with families, caregivers, and support teams to ensure consistent implementation and meaningful progress.

  • Community-Based Instruction

Community-Based Instruction (CBI) helps individuals build real-world skills by practicing them in everyday community settings. Whether it’s grocery shopping, riding public transportation, ordering at a restaurant, or navigating social interactions in public spaces, CBI offers structured, hands-on learning experiences guided by trained staff. CBI is an essential step in preparing individuals to thrive outside of the home or clinic and empowers them to participate meaningfully in their communities.

  • Behavior Support Services

Our Behavior Support Services are designed to help individuals develop the tools they need to manage challenging behaviors in a safe, supportive, and effective way. Using evidence-based strategies rooted in ABA, we work to understand the “why” behind behaviors and teach meaningful, functional alternatives. Each plan is tailored to the individual’s unique needs and includes proactive supports, skill-building strategies, and collaboration with caregivers to ensure consistency across home, school, and community environments
